Diabetics Doing Things: The Drip
September 2020
Time to wake up everyone, because September has ended
It was a busy month for us:
My campaign with Express went live, and I represented people with Diabetes on a panel with Tan France, which you can catch here
Mohammed Seyam and Mary Heather Hickman took over our Instagram for Doing Things Day
Eritrea and I launched our new format of the podcast “Testing…Testing…Our Blood Sugar”
Rob spoke at JDRF x BeyondType1’s virtual TypeOneNation Summit
We started doing Giveaways every other Monday to highlight other creators with Diabetes
In short, we’re doing things!
This month I’m getting married! I’m choosing to focus more on that than other things, because it’s a special moment for me and my family. It’s also my birthday month, so by choosing to get married I’m just fully committing to being October’s very own. lol.
In addition to the exciting personal stuff this month, I’m going to be hosting the 2nd Annual Myabetic Diabetes Awards on Myabetic TV. The awards are virtual this year, so I’ll be hosting and enjoying them from the comfort of my own home.
I recently bought a shirt from LeBron James’ company Uninterrupted, and with it came a card which had some really inspiring words on it, and finished with the brand’s tagline “More than an Athlete.” It reminded me that while not all of us are athletes, all of us are More than our Diabetes. So remember that when you go to the polls or vote by mail, remember that when you advocate for affordable insulin, remember that when someone says something mean to you or questions the management of your health.
You are more than your Diabetes. So hang tough.
Rob
This month we featured @mohammed.seyam99 and @maryheatherhickman! Mohammed shared his experience living in Palestine with T1D while being Quarantined in the midst of an ongoing occupation. Mary Heather took us thru her day as a singer songwriter living in Nashville with T1D. Click their pics to read more!
