December 2022
Partners, Friends and Fans,
Thank you for your support throughout an up-and-down 2022. This year was the most demanding and challenging year of my professional life thus far. Demands on time, attention and energy found me stretched very thin for long periods of time, and during that time I wasn't my best self to my family, friends, co-workers and employees.
While 2022 was my most challenging year professionally, look at what we accomplished at Diabetics Doing Things:
32 podcast episodes published and +300k downloads
90,000 postcards printed and distributed via North Texas Food Bank
$10,000 in scholarships donated
Published first issue of the Diabetics Doing Things Creator Zine
$15,000 paid to Diabetes Creators
+25% in website traffic compared to 2021
+400 followers on DDT Instagram
We asked ourselves a big question at the beginning of 2022:
"How can we help people with Diabetes in Dallas?"
That question started us down a path that led to a new positioning for Diabetics Doing Things:
Practical Applications for People with Diabetes.
So as we continue to announce programs, partnerships, events and more in 2023, just know that it all boils down to driving Practical Applications for People with Diabetes.
In the 7-years since I started DDT in that hotel room in Bogota, I have stepped into my purpose through many highs and lows of Diabetes and entrepreneurship. The space for me to drive impact is to advocate and innovate for you and the next generation of people living with Diabetes in Dallas, Texas, the U.S. and all over the world.
Part of that means being generous community partners. Our friends at T1International are asking for our help. The looming economic uncertainty has produced a gap in their funding, a gap they're asking for the community to help fill. So I'm asking for you to be good community members and give what you can to help our friends. Your voice matters and your dollars matter and you can make a difference.
In closing out the year, I've written a blog called My 2022 in Review, and I'd love for you to check it out. It'll give you some thoughts on what I enjoyed, what helped me and what I learned from my most challenging year to-date.
Plus it'll tide you over on content until I release my 18th year Diaversary podcast, coming the first week of January 2023.
Until then, happy holidays to you and yours. Thank you for being a part of Diabetics Doing Things
Rob
Be sure to check these episodes from November
